DIOR’s senior researcher and president, Jorge Moll

D’Or Institute for Research and Education is an organization that focuses on promoting scientific research and technological advancement in the healthcare industry and education. The institute was founded almost a decade ago through the collaboration between Fernanda Tovar-Moll and Dr. Jorge Moll. Its headquarters are based in Rio de Janiero, Botafogo. It is designed in a state-of-the-art manner with equipment for research and laboratories that were developed partially with donations from the D’Or Sao Luiz Hospital. IDOR is headed by Jorge Moll who is its president and a member of its board of governors as well as the institute’s senior researcher.

Doctor Jorge Moll is a graduate of the Rio de Janiero Federal University where he got his MD in Neurology. He went ahead and subsequently pursued a Ph.D. in Experimental Physiopathology from the Sao Paulo University. Before IDIOR, Jorge Moll served as an elected affiliate board member of the International Neurotics Society in 2008. He also worked as a researcher for NIH for three years until 2007 and as an elected affiliate member of the Academy of Sciences in Brazil between 2012 and 2013.

Having been born to a father who was also a neurologist, Jorge Moll developed a curiosity to find out how the brain functions, consciousness and the relationship between the brain and all body functions hence his decision to pursue the career himself. At a tender age, he got exposed to the fMRI device which is what was being used then before the development of the MRI (http://www.abc.org.br/~JMOLL). He was fascinated with what he learned while using the machine hence his love affair with research.

Today, Dr. Jorge Moll spends his time meeting and giving talks to associates, fellow researchers, scholars, moguls, and scientists from various organizations in the quest to enhance medical research and exchange ideas while at the same time he holds as a mentor to these individuals. He is currently looking into how machines and the human brain can be meshed to work together, regenerative medicine and gene therapy. He is also currently in the works of launching a new NGO that would become an affiliate of DIOR.
